Deadlock Street Brawl Guide: Rules, Item Drafts and Does It Affect Your Rank?

Street Brawl is Deadlock's fast mode: four against four, best of five rounds, and items drafted from a hand instead of bought with souls. Here are the rules, what City Never Sleeps changed and the question everyone asks: does it count for rank?

Without souls to farm, Street Brawl is all fighting. Each draft is a decision between three items, and the one reroll is worth saving for a hand that does not fit your hero at all.

Does Street Brawl affect your rank?

No. Street Brawl does not affect your standard matchmaking rating, and it is not part of Ranked. It also does not count toward the Standard wins you need to unlock Ranked, which are counted in Standard mode. What it does count for is the hero vote: every Street Brawl match gives you a vote, just like Standard.

What City Never Sleeps changed

  • A free Corrupted item after the round 5 draft, which had to be a non-Enhanced item. It was removed on October 4 along with The Broker's other Corrupted items.
  • Healing Snacks heal 20% of max health in Street Brawl, double the 10% in Standard.
  • Street Brawl matches earn hero votes for the new heroes.
  • Bug fixes. New heroes like Rat King play the same as in Standard, with no mode-specific changes.

What Street Brawl is good for

  • Learning a new hero's abilities in short, fight-heavy games without risking rank.
  • Practicing team fights and ultimate timing, since every round is a fight.
  • Voting for the next new hero quickly, with three-minute rounds.

What it will not teach you is the farming, rotations and objective timings that decide ranked games. For those, play Standard, and read our guides to the Haunts and the new map.
