We counted 277,601 players who played ranked between September 8 and October 8, 2026, by the rank they held after their latest match. Here is how the ladder splits, which percentile your badge puts you in, and two patterns in the numbers that explain why some steps feel harder than others.

The ladder is bottom-heavy. Almost half of all ranked players sit in Initiate, Seeker or Acolyte, and only about one in seven makes it to Oracle or higher. If the names of the ranks are new to you, our guide to Deadlock ranks lists them in order and explains how points work.

The VI wall: why players pile up at the top of every rank
Look inside any rank from Seeker to Oracle and the same thing happens: I to V hold roughly the same number of players, then VI jumps by a third to three quarters. The reason is the points table. Every step from I up to VI costs 1,000 points, but the step from VI to the next rank's I costs 2,000. At about 300 points a game, that is roughly seven net wins instead of four, so players spend longer at VI, and the table shows it.

The wall disappears at Phantom, where VI holds about as many players as the average of I to V, and Eternus thins out all the way to its top. If you are stuck at VI, you are not doing worse than before. You are paying double for the next step. Our rank points calculator shows exactly how many wins that step costs from your position.
The Oracle cliff
Above Seeker, Oracle is the only rank that holds more players than the rank below it: 8.7% against Emissary's 8.2%. Then the ladder falls off a cliff. Oracle VI has 5,181 players and Phantom I has 2,544, less than half.
The likely cause is calibration. Placement matches can put you anywhere up to Oracle VI and no higher, so players whose results point above Oracle all start the season at the cap and have to win their way through the double-cost step into Phantom. Everything above Oracle is earned in regular games, which is why Phantom is only 3.6% of the ladder. If a new season is close, our season reset guide explains how that cap works.
What is a good rank in Deadlock?
Mystic I or higher puts you in the top 42%, above the median player.
Ritualist VI is the top quarter of the ladder.
Oracle IV is the top 10%, the line most players would call high rank.
Phantom is the top 5%, and fewer than one player in 250 reaches Eternus.
Every full rank costs the same 7,000 points, but it is worth very different amounts. Seeker I to Acolyte I takes you past 18.7% of the ladder. Phantom I to Ascendant I takes you past 3.6%. The higher you climb, the less each rank moves your percentile, even though the work per rank stays the same.
