Deadlock Patch Notes October 14, 2026: Baba Nerfs and Deadman Danny Buffs

The October 14 minor update pulls Baba down from the top of the win rate charts and lifts Deadman Danny off the bottom, one day after his release. Radiant Regeneration loses a little healing as well. Here is every change, including the ones Valve left out of its notes, what each one does in a match and the first numbers since.

Hero cards of Baba and Deadman Danny, the two Deadlock heroes changed in the October 14, 2026 update

Every change in the update

Valve posted the notes on the evening of October 14, Pacific time. No hero or item outside the three below changed.

Baba

What changed for Baba
ValueBeforeAfter
Base bullet resist0%-7%
Spirit resist per point of spirit power0.12%0.1%
Threadsap cooldown26 s28 s
Granny Long Legs cooldown30 s32 s
Baba's Brew cooldown25 s27 s
Baba's Brew cooldown with tier 213 s13 s
Brew barrier10090
Brew barrier spirit scaling1.20.7
  • Threadsap: the spirit power Baba steals now goes back to its owners the moment she dies, instead of running out its timer.
  • Granny Long Legs: chaining light melee kicks in the air carries her forward a little less with each kick, aiming up no longer launches her as high, and the heavy melee ground pound stops picking up horizontal speed when it lands on a slope.
  • Baba's Brew: the tier 2 upgrade now takes 14 s off the cooldown instead of 12 s, so the longer cooldown only matters until that point is spent.
  • Street Brawl: the Threadsap steal lasts 35% less time.

Deadman Danny

What changed for Deadman Danny
ValueBeforeAfter

Close the Deal tier 1 damage+50+90
Close the Deal bonus under half health+50%+75%
Rocket jump self damage, share of max health6.5%5%
  • Chimera Mk1: the cooldown now shrinks by 0.45 s with every boon, the stat level-up that comes with souls, instead of 0.25 s.
  • Chimera Mk1: the bullet half of the dive explosion scales 1.4 with weapon damage instead of 1.15, and the tier 2 heal on a hero hit scales twice as hard with spirit power, 2 instead of 1.
  • Chimera Mk1: slows affect Danny less while he flies.
  • Strix Salvo: damage scaling from spirit power rises from 0.9 to 1.1, and the tier 3 scaling bonus from +0.2 to +0.35.
  • Rocket jumping: the self damage is now spirit damage, so spirit resist reduces it.

Changes missing from Valve's notes

The updated game files hold five more Danny changes, and one listed change turned out bigger than the notes say.

  • Slows in the air: the notes say 15%, but the files cut their effect on a flying Danny by 30%, from 100% to 70% sideways and from 50% to 35% up and down.
  • Every Chimera dive now costs him 10% of his max health instead of 12%.
  • The Chimera tier 3 upgrade cuts the cooldown by 50% on a hero hit instead of 40%, and the in-game tooltip already says so.
  • Strix Salvo missiles fly about 17% faster on their way to the ground.
  • Rocket jumps lift him a little less straight up but push him about 30% harder off walls.
  • Close the Deal keeps its speed near the top of the flight. It used to slow to 10% of its speed close to the peak and now never drops below 30%, with full speed lasting until about 4 m from the top instead of 7 m.

Radiant Regeneration

The tier 3 spirit item still regenerates 4 health a second while you deal spirit damage to heroes, but each point of spirit power now adds 0.035 instead of 0.04. At 100 spirit power that is 7.5 health a second instead of 8, and at 200 it is 11 instead of 12. Four heroes lean on it: across October 12 and 13 it was bought in 94% of Shiv games, 92% of Baba games, 91% of Lady Geist games and 83% of Celeste games.

What it means in a match

Baba gets hit from three sides. Guns now chew through her faster, her spirit tankiness grows more slowly as she builds, and every basic ability comes back a little later. The brew barrier takes the biggest cut once she has items: at 100 spirit power it shielded allies for 220 before the patch and shields 160 now, about 27% less. Killing her also undoes Threadsap on the spot, so a team that kills her gets its spirit power back instead of waiting out the steal. Her full kit with the new numbers is in our Baba guide.

Danny comes out sturdier and cheaper to play. He now has 50 more health and better regen, his gun does 25% more damage per uncharged shot, and both the Chimera dive and the rocket jump cost him less health. Close the Deal turned into a real finisher. With the tier 1 upgrade, a crash on a target under half health now hits for 280 on impact, up from 180. Updated numbers for his whole kit are in our Deadman Danny guide.

Win rates before and after

Win rate across all game modes before and after the October 14 update
HeroBeforeFirst hours afterPlace of 42
Baba58.0%51.9%1 → 13
Deadman Danny37.5%44.5%42 → 40

The first numbers moved the way the changes suggest. Baba went into the update as the best hero in Deadlock across all modes and in Ranked, where she won 57.8%. In the first hours after it she is still above average, but no longer the hero to beat. Danny was the weakest hero from the day he arrived, and his win rate jumped by seven points within hours. In Ranked alone he climbed from 32.3% to 40.4%. These are early samples, so check our Deadlock tier list for where every hero stands once a full week of games is in.

How we measured it: public match data. Before means October 12 until the update for Baba, about 101,000 of her games, and from Danny's release on October 13 until the update for him, about 77,500 games. After means the first five hours on the new version, from 4 am to 9 am UTC on October 15: about 2,200 Baba games and 5,400 Danny games.

What comes next

The next City Never Sleeps hero arrives on Friday, October 16 at 2 pm Pacific, and players decide between Nurse Harrow and Violet in the pregame vote. Our City Never Sleeps heroes guide has the schedule, and our notes on the October 5 update cover the previous round of changes.
